Hello there! The name here is Jade, but you can call me whatever variety of nicknames you come up with (as long as they aren't rude, of course). I'm a 19, soon-to-be 20, year old from the US (Pennsylvania, to be more precise). I've been writing and RPing for years; I got my start on the game Spore's forum (the brilliantly named Sporum) RP section, where I started out by embarrassing myself by not understanding the rules about double-posting. That was a good... Oh gosh, ~7 years ago now? I've been doing some form of RP, although sometimes in a rather limited capacity, ever since.
I've been playing Pokemon even longer! I got Pokemon Ruby for my 8th birthday and was hooked ever since. My elementary school had a copy of Pokemon Yellow, which I could play but couldn't save (I think the farthest I ever got on that was to Pewter City?), and a friend gave me a busted copy of Gold, but Generation 3 was my first. When it finally clicked that I could combine RP with Pokemon, I fell in love once more, creating my fair share of goofy characters and stories with my friends.
Actual experience with tabletop RPG's is where my inexperience comes in. I've run a few one-offs with a grand total of two systems, One Piece d20 and PTU. Unfortunately, there was only ever one one-off with PTU... A friend of mine was going to GM a PTU campaign, and we got as far as creating characters, but the week after (when we were going to begin), the GM got a new job working the night shift. We haven't really had an opportunity to try to get the campaign running since, since the GM is now working or asleep whenever the other players and myself would have the time to do it.
I suppose that brings me to why I'm here! From years of forum-based RP, the play-by-post format does hold some appeal to me (partially since the primary flaw that I'm aware of - the extended waiting periods - is nothing I haven't dealt with before), and I'm very eager to try my hand at it as either a GM or player. Well, actually, both. While I originally came to the site in order to seek out a game to take part in, I've also found the idea of running a game myself to be quite appealing! Of course, due to my relative inexperience, I readily admit that I may make mistakes, both as a player and as a GM, but I'm willing to both learn from them so I don't make them in the future and work with others (whether fellow players in a game or the players in a campaign I'm running) to improve.
As far as the kinds of characters I play... I wouldn't say there's one specific "brand", though I will admit that the "utility" options in PTU interest me greatly. Especially while I'm still relatively new to everything, I probably won't play especially outgoing characters that would try to fit the description of "leader", but I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility!
If anyone would like to discuss things with me, I'll keep an eye on my PM's here on the site - but I'm likely to be more reliably reached through Skype or Discord! My Skype username is "englishdemon" (without the quotation marks), and my Discord is able to be handed out on an as-requested basis.
... And why yes, it is strange that my username is Jade and my avatar is Lapis Lazuli, thank you for mentioning it.
